As the field enters the stage of the 2020-2021 market with the majority of campus visits, we strongly advise schools to not pressure candidates into traveling for a campus visit, even when the schools request a negative COVID test. The personal and public health risks at this time far outweigh the benefits of an in-person interview experience, and we strongly encourage programs to push back on any HR requests for in-person campus visits with a virtual option. This is not responsible behavior on the part of schools, and places undue pressure on the candidate in a historically difficult job market. Any school that mandates in-person campus visits during the current circumstances will be delisted from rhetmap.org.
